Batter up! The Canada Cup International Softball Championships are underway right through to July 22, 2018, at Softball City, Cloverdale Athletic Park and Sunnyside Park. Is there anything that says summer like a day at the ballpark? With an abundance of talented teams and players, this tournament is sure to have you rooting for your favourites as they scale the tournament ladder.

Featuring both local and international women’s fastpitch teams, this tournament includes U16/16U, U19/19U and the Women’s International Division.  In total there are more than 1,200 elite athletes participating in this championship, making the Canada Cup the largest softball event in the nation.

All three ballparks are primed and ready for 10-days of outstanding action. For those attending games at Softball City, on-site amenities at that park include a 425-seat indoor/outdoor restaurant and a pro shop with souvenirs.

Women’s Softball was an Olympic sport in 1996-2008 but was dropped from the sports roster in 2012 and 2016. For the 2020 Olympics in Toyko, it has been confirmed that Women’s Softball will be included. The two-year countdown to Tokyo starts July 24th, so getting a look at how these women’s teams are coming together provides good insight into what we can expect in 2020.

Canada Cup tickets are available for purchase online, with a day, evening or tournament-long options available. Adult day tickets are $17; tickets for children 5 and under are free.

All three tournament locations are within a 10-20 minute drive from the Comfort Inn Surrey, making it easy to get to the ballparks. You’re also sure to enjoy the hotel’s complimentary wi-fi, so you can keep up-to-date on the latest Canada Cup news and results.

So grab your ball cap (of course!) and sunscreen and head to the ball game so you don’t miss a moment of this entertaining, fun-filled sporting experience!
