Party for the Planet

BC’s biggest Earth Day celebration happens at the City Hall Plaza in Surrey on April 23. This full day of environmental excitement features a wide variety of entertainment, with musical performances ranging from indie rock performers to children's musical acts; kids activities like eco-crafts, a bicycling clinic, animal and science demonstration shows; and the ever-popular tree and plant sale. There will also be more than 100 booths of activities, an “enviro bungee,” and some great local food trucks.

Darts Hill Gardens

Created by Francisca and Edwin Darts, the Darts Hill Garden Park is the gorgeous result of more than 70 years of pure horticulture love. The Darts first purchased an overgrown logged property in 1943 and transformed it into an orchard. Then, as Francisca’s interest for rare and unusual plants from around the world grew, slowly the Darts transformed their garden again to create a plantsman’s garden. With a wish to see their garden continue to grow and inspire new generations of gardeners, the couple gifted their now-7.5 acre land to the City of Surrey in 1994. These beautiful gardens are now open every Saturday from 11:00AM to 3:00PM for a “Saturday Stroll” through the garden’s winding pathways and open meadows.
